MAP 1: Logging and wilderness portions of Pow Wow Trail (PWT). Following the BWCA Wilderness Act of 1978 the USFS built a connecting link (dashed line in green) between two logging roads (red lines). This trail is about 32 miles long. There was also a Pow Wow Trail East Loop 27 (?) miles long. In 1993, the USFS created new BWCAW management plan and in doing so removed both West and East Pow Wow Trail loops from the inventory - without any public notice what so ever! Only because of public outcry, the USFS reneged, albeit partially, and put the west loop back into the SNF trail inventory. In 2013, USFS marked portion of trail with blue diamonds.
