Martin Kubik, immigrant and hiker from Czechoslovakia. Fell into long term relationship with the BWCA in 1971 (or so) and eventually founded the Kekabic Trail Club (1990) and Boundary Waters Advisory Committee (2002) with the express purpose to save and preserve our intrinsically beautiful hiking trails in the BWCA. Named volunteer of the year for the Great Lakes Region by the American Hiking Society in 2007.
